Nearly 20 years ago, Amy Schmid, Principal of Schmid Consulting, stumbled into the affordable housing industry.  Amy started to build her knowledge-base by doing organizational finance, accounting, human resources, information technology, and general administration for a Minneapolis-based nonprofit developer.  She soon built on this foundation by building specialties in housing development finance and asset management.  Throughout the trajectory of her career in affordable housing, all roads led to strategic asset management.  Amy became an expert in financial restructurings, refinancings, and recapitalizations, working with the Twin Cities' leading affordable housing attorneys and accountants to solve the ever-complicated problems that come with developing and preserving affordable housing.  Over the years, Amy has assisted in the development of nearly 6,000 units of affordable housing, has performed several Year 15 financial restructurings, and has saved properties millions of dollars through refinancings and renegotiations of original deal terms.
